Terms of use

These terms#

These terms are an agreement between you and iDevelopApps (“we”, “us”), the maker of iKnowMyMac. They cover the iKnowMyMac app for Mac and the website at iknowmymac.com. By buying, downloading or using iKnowMyMac, you agree to them. If you use iKnowMyMac for a company, you agree on its behalf and confirm you're allowed to.

Buying a license#

• Dodo Payments is the Merchant of Record. Dodo Payments sells the license to you, takes the payment, charges and pays any sales tax, VAT or GST, and issues your receipt. Dodo Payments' own terms of sale also apply to the purchase.
• One-time purchase. You pay once. There is no subscription and no renewal.
• Prices are in US dollars and shown before you pay. During the launch, the price of a 1-Mac license rises as each price tier sells out. You pay the price shown at checkout; later price changes, up or down, don't change what you paid.
• No trial. Instead, every purchase can be refunded within 14 days (see Refunds).

Your license#

When you buy iKnowMyMac, we give you a license key and a personal, non-exclusive, worldwide license to:

• install and use iKnowMyMac, including every feature, on as many Macs at once as the number of Macs you bought (each activation uses one seat);
• use it for personal and commercial purposes, including at work;
• move a seat from one Mac to another at any time by deactivating the old Mac (see moving a license).

The license doesn't expire, as long as you keep to these terms. You may not:

• share your key beyond the number of Macs you bought, or publish it;
• sell, rent, lend, sublicense or transfer your license or key to someone else without our written consent;
• get around, disable or interfere with the license checks;
• copy, modify or redistribute the app, or reverse engineer it, except where the law allows this regardless of these terms.

A company that buys a license for several Macs may assign its seats to the Macs its people use.

Updates and support#

Updates to iKnowMyMac are free for license holders and are delivered through the app. We decide what goes into each update, and we may change or remove features. We don't promise any particular future feature or date, or that every version will support every version of macOS. The system requirements are Apple silicon and macOS 15 Sequoia or later, and are listed on the help centre.

Refunds#

You can get a full refund within 14 days of your purchase, without giving a reason. The refund policy explains how, and Dodo Payments processes the refund. This doesn't limit any refund rights you have under the law where you live.

Deactivated licenses#

If a purchase is refunded or charged back, its license key is deactivated. We may also deactivate a key that was obtained by fraud or is used beyond the terms above; we'll tell you by email first where we can.

Acceptable use#

Don't use iKnowMyMac or this website to break the law, and don't:

• attack, overload or probe the website, the downloads, the update feed or the license service;
• access accounts, systems or data that aren't yours;
• submit false claims, for example to the post-for-refund program;
• distribute modified copies of the app or pass them off as ours.

Actions on your Mac#

iKnowMyMac can quit or force quit apps, stop developer servers, close simulators and move files to the Trash, but only when you choose to, and it asks you to confirm first. Force quitting an app can lose its unsaved work, and you are responsible for the actions you confirm. Files are moved to the Trash, never deleted outright, so you can put them back until you empty it.

Privacy#

The privacy policy explains what the app and the website collect. In short, the app has no account, no analytics and no telemetry.

Ownership and trademarks#

iKnowMyMac, its code, design and this website belong to iDevelopApps. Your license gives you the right to use the app; it doesn't transfer ownership. The app includes open-source components, such as the Sparkle update framework, which are used under their own licenses.

Apple, Mac, macOS and Apple silicon are trademarks of Apple Inc. Other product names belong to their owners. iKnowMyMac is not made or endorsed by Apple or by the makers of other apps named on this site.

No warranty#

We work hard to make iKnowMyMac accurate and reliable, but to the extent the law allows, the app and this website are provided “as is”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. Figures come from macOS and the hardware and can be approximate, and the diagnosis is guidance: it may not find every cause of a slowdown. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have as a consumer that can't be limited by agreement.

Limitation of liability#

To the extent the law allows:

• we aren't liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential losses, or for lost profits, revenue, data or business, arising from the app or the website;
• our total liability for any claim about iKnowMyMac is limited to the amount you paid for your license.

These limits don't apply to liability that the law doesn't allow us to limit, such as liability for fraud or for death or personal injury caused by negligence.

Ending these terms#

You can stop using iKnowMyMac at any time; the uninstall guide shows how. If you seriously break these terms, we may end your license and deactivate your key. Sections that by their nature should last, such as ownership, no warranty, limitation of liability and governing law, continue after the license ends.

Governing law#

These terms are governed by the laws of India, and the courts of India have jurisdiction over disputes about them. If you're a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live, and you may bring a claim there. Before going to court, please write to us: most problems are solved by email.

Changes to these terms#

We may update these terms. When we do, we change the date at the top of this page, and for significant changes we say so on this site. Continuing to use the app or website after a change means you accept the new terms, but a change never takes away what you already bought: your seats, free updates and the refund window of your purchase.
